Grizzly Bear

All of our grizzly bear pictures were taken in Alaska. We fly out on float planes with a guide to Katmai National Park to photograph grizzly bears when they are in the rivers fishing for salmon to eat. We go in the late fall when the salmon are spawning and are plentiful, so the bears have a good food supply which makes us less likely to become their next meal. We sit quietly in a group on the riverbanks and respectfully keep our distance. We have also photographed grizzly bears as they fish for salmon in the Russian and Kenai Rivers. Fishermen in these rivers carry bear mace or a gun with them. It is a thrilling but potentially very dangerous experience. It isn’t often that you get to look into the eyes of a grizzly bear.
