Barred Owl

This barred owl was sitting on the limb of a tree on one of our backyard trails. Because there was a branch in front of the owls’s face, I started taking pictures by laying on my stomach to overshoot the branch. I worked my way closer to the owl and got up on my knees and then finally stood up about 15 feet away from it. I have heard it hooting at night so it was exciting and unusual to see it out in the daylight. The owl made garbled noises as if it were talking to me. It ruffled it’s feathers but stayed on the limb and didn’t fly away. I would rustle my boot in the leaves and the owl would stare down at it as if he heard a mouse, then he would slowly look up at me and I would snap a picture. It was an unforgettable experience. I took so many pictures that I finally backed away and left the owl sitting there.
